I hope to find my voice as a designer and create beautiful things that merge my passions for human rights and media studies. I enjoy watching films, fundraising, listening to music, curating moodboards and collecting archival fashion pieces.

I will be making a Bharatnatyam single-hand handpose detector. Bharatnatyam is a classical Indian danceform that has an incredibly rich spiritual and cultural history. It would be interesting to find a way to get the public engaged in learning about this ancient danceform. I can also see how this project can have longevity and a storytelling aspect by adding two hand gestures + facial expressions + body movements that can be done in succession to tell a story.

My final sketch has a few separate functions: - if the canvas height > width, the screen will spam either "i fear" or "i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)" - if the canvas width > height (wide), the screen will randomly show a stanza of the poem - if the canvas width > 650 + canvas height > 490, the full poem will be revealed. I also changed the colors to be either red, white or black.

This week I've added a status bar to the project to show what can mudras have been performed and what is left to perform. There are callouts of achievements too when a mudra has been performed multiple times. After the first session it: Tracks which mudras you tried, Shows "First Steps" achievement, Suggests unexplored mudras.

I enjoyed researching Body Remixer, It is a public installation that captures people's bodies in real time to remix them and create visual avatars that can be interacted with. I want my project to create a similar environment of interactivity while being culturally educational. I had a lot of fun in class playing with ml5 hand gestures so I want to integrate that aspect as well.

Added GUI for canvas width and height and added conditionals so that if the height or width is below a certain value the display will be different.

I chose the poem i carry your heart with me(i carry it in by E.E Cummings. I first read it in middle school and I was very moved by it as it broke many structural and grammatical rules–I did not know the English language could be deconstructed and still carry so much emotion, perhaps even more. The poem feels even more relevant now than it did in the past after losing loved ones and understanding grief.
